Mother Daughter Days on Russian Hill

If you’re a Sentence Fragments fan, you know I mostly share my personal experiences and stories. However, sometimes I come across something or am introduced to an idea or creation that came from the brain of another that I feel is important to share.

One such creation is a children’s book highlighting the fun and creative ways a mother-daughter pair has shared special moments together through different stages of life. I enjoyed the rhyming verse and accompanying watercolor illustrations. I was inspired by the sometimes universal and other times unique ways this duo spent their days together.

Mother-Daughter Days on Russian Hill was written by a mother dedicating a collection of memories to her daughter, so I found that it was only fitting that I should read it to my own daughters. I worked it into our homeschool lessons. As the girls created their own artwork, I read, and found them swiftly turning their heads at each new page to glance the eye capturing pictures. They promptly caught me when I was off rhythm with my reading of verse. They were inspiringly engaged by the special activities and outings described. They asked to try some of the ones in the book. What filled me with the most joy, however, was their brainstorming of new ways for US to spend special time together.

As a mother in a strange time, seeing my kids engaged and inspired to find new activities for us to enjoy, no matter how mundane or quirky they may be, was encouraging and gratifying.

I’d now like to share this book with you, and recommend it to any parent looking to inspire quality time between you and your child(ren). Please see below for the website to the book’s main page which includes links to purchase.
